Tourism in the UK has gradually increased by 30% since the dramatic decline in 2008 due to the Global Financial Crisis. This means that the UK is the eighth largest international tourism destination ranked by visitor numbers, generating £126.9 billion, making up 9.0% of UK GDP. It is also said to be the seventh largest international tourism ranked by visitor expenditure, with a £638 average of spends per visits. The reasons for travelling to the UK vary greatly depending on many factors. A graph from the international passenger survey office 2012 suggests that the main factors for traveling to the UK include leisure, business, visiting friends and relatives and study. This graph suggests that 12 million visitors travel for leisure, 7.4 million travel for business, 9 million travel to visit friend and relatives, 0.5 million travel for study and 2.2 million travel for other reasons. The best times to visit the UK is from April to September as the weather is warmest and the days are longer. This are also the months that the UK experiences spring, summer and part of autumn.
