As recorded in 2012 the top 5 most visited cities in England include London, York, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool. There is a large variety between the locations of these cities, Liverpool being on the coast, Manchester and York being in the north of England, Birmingham is located in the Midlands and London is located to the South. All of these locations provide different scenery and attractions.
London, the biggest city in Britain and Europe,is located in the south-eastern part of England with the coordinates 51.5072° N, 0.1275° W. It is approximately 11 square miles and has a population of 7,172,036 people. As recorded in 2011, over 15.3 million tourists visited London, making it one of the most internationally visited locations. London provides tourists with many facilities, services and attractions which include the Big Ben, London eye, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and the River Thames.
York, a historic -walled city, is located at the point where the River Ouse and River Foss meet with the coordinates 53.9583° N, 1.0803° W. It is approximately 271.9 km² and has an increasing population of 56.1 million. The city was founded by Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD and in the 19th century it became a popular place for a railway network and a confectionery manufacturing center. However recently the city of York has turned into a place that provides services to both tourists and locals. York receives over 4 million visitors a year as recorded in 2009 and generates £364 million from visitor expenditures.
